I apologize for the quality of the video but done in my office with FaceBook Live but the message is important
I get this question all the time:
Can leather upper shoes or any footwear be put into a washing machine or a dryer?
Well, the answer is NO for several reasons.
In this video, you will find out some of these reasons for which the significant fact is that all standard footwear use glue in the construction of the shoe.
The outsole (bottom) of the shoe, even it is stitched, is usually secured to the upper with glue.
This clement glue will not take full submerging in a washing machine (a fuller explanation below) and cannot take the heat and tumble of a dryer.
The clement glue will weaken and will shorten the life of the shoe in half or more.
The tumbling of both the washer and dryer will destroy the material and the glue as well.
In this video, I have some suggestions for you on how to clean leather shoes and even canvas or tennis shoes so take the time to take a look.
