The only thing small about this manicotti recipe is its size because it still carries a huge amount of flavor.

Ground turkey, garlic, cheese, and spinach are stuffed into cooked manicotti shells. The pasta shells are then sliced into three pieces, making them bite-sized and perfect for the kids to eat. Serve with a side salad and rolls.

Ingredients:

  • 10 packaged manicotti shells
  • 1/2 pound ground turkey sausage
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • Then, 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (4 ounces)
  • Now, 1/2 of a 10-ounce package frozen, chopped spinach, thawed and well-drained
  • Yes, 1/2 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning, crushed
  • Okay, 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 beaten egg
  • 1-1/3 cups spaghetti sauce
  • 2 tablespoons shredded Parmesan cheese (optional)

Directions:

  1. Cook manicotti shells according to package directions. Drain; rinse with cold water. Drain well. Cook sausage and garlic in a large saucepan until cooked through, breaking up sausage with a spoon. Remove from heat. Add mozzarella cheese, spinach, ricotta cheese, the 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, lemon juice, and egg; mix well. Carefully spoon mixture into cooked shells.
  2. Cut each manicotti diagonally crosswise into three pieces. Place in a 3-quart rectangular baking dish. Spoon spaghetti sauce over. Bake, covered, in a 350 degree F oven for 30 to 35 minutes or until heated through. If desired, sprinkle with 2 tablespoons shredded Parmesan cheese. Makes 15 servings.

MANY FOOT PROBLEMS CAN BE RESOLVED- HOW?/ dtfootwear.com

Although diabetes is a chronic condition, it doesn’t have to slow you down from enjoying life.

Whether you’ve just been diagnosed or have been managing our conditions for hearing, you can enjoy a healthy, active lifestyle by following simple guidelines for foot care and proper footwear.

What you need to know about diabetes and foot health:

28 million US adults have diabetes

60-70% will likely develop loss of sensation on their feet, a condition known as neuropathy

25% will likely develop a diabetic foot sore, also called foot ulcer

Diabetes is the leading cause of lower-extremity amputations not caused by accidents or injury, responsible for more than 60% of all cases

Nearly all (80%) diabetes-related amputations start with foot ulcers.

Because of the connection between foot ulcers and amputation, medical experts agree a key to optimal foot health is to avoid blisters and sores.

The use of proper footwear, regular exams, and preventative foot care reduced amputation among people with diabetes by 50%.

One of the common complications of diabetes is neuropathy or loss of feeling in the feet or legs.

This condition happens when high blood sugar damages the blood vessels that lead to your nerves, affecting their ability to feel the sensation.

If you have neuropathy, you may not be aware of friction from poorly fitting shoes that can cause blisters or small injuries to the toes or foot.

A pebble in your shoe, you may not feel that irritation, allowing it to develop into a blister or sore. If left untreated, these minor problems can turn into more serious diabetic foot ulcers.

Then,  infected, they can lead to amputations of the toes, foot, or leg.

Adults with diabetes may also experience decreased blood flow throughout their body, making it harder to fight infections.

As a result, wounds take longer to heal and can quickly advance to a more serious medical condition.

Many foot issues can be addressed and resolved- the key is catching them early.
